Jonathan Beaudoin ("JB") is a seasoned expert in hydrographic surveying with over two decades of hands-on experience mapping the seafloor in some of the world’s most challenging marine environments. With a deep foundation in acoustics, geodesy, oceanography, and multibeam systems, he blends scientific rigor with real-world practicality to deliver high-impact training and consulting.
Before founding HydroOctave, JB led global technical support and training programs for industry-leading hydroacoustic software, working closely with survey teams, academic researchers, and government agencies around the world. His passion lies in demystifying complex concepts and empowering professionals with the knowledge and confidence to solve real field problems—whether it's tuning multibeam systems, troubleshooting integration errors, or optimizing data quality.
JB holds an M.Sc. in Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and has contributed to numerous publications and international conferences. Through HydroOctave, he continues to mentor the next generation of surveyors while supporting organizations in maximizing the value of their seafloor data.
